Activity Leader – Adult learning disability

Shire are now working in partnership with a family run provider of Adult Learning Disability service and have a permanent opportunity for a unique role as Activity group leader / Support worker based around Ripley, Derbyshire.

This is a full time, permanent position working for a tight knit family run business.

£10.50 per hour starting pay – this will be reviewed alongside performance.

8:30am – 4:30pm (great position for people who have children in school)

40 hours per week + possible overtime.

The goal is for the position to be Monday to Friday but there will be occasional weekend work initially. This role will include some weekend work but not every weekend.

This position will be hands on and the role is to support service users to improve and learn new life skills

As an activity co-ordinator / support worker you will:

· Plan and oversee many daily activities such as cooking, making friendships and widening their experiences in the community setting, whilst having fun!

· Take small groups of service users and lead gardening activities, swimming lessons, preparing meals and arts and crafts to name a few!

I would like to hear from anyone who has experience in person centred care, positive behaviour support and be a good role model to our young adults.

Essential criteria:

Ability to work as part of a team.

Willing to undertake any training needed.

Fun and caring person.

Desirable criteria:

Driving License.

Experience working with people with learning disabilities.

Current DBS check.

NVQ Level 3 Health and Social care.
